Today’s the day we hit the road, and oh boy, it’s a beautiful mess! Amidst the chaos of cramming the last of our oversized bags and snack stash into the tiny trunk, the city’s skyline bid us a gleaming goodbye. It’s an Instagram-worthy sight for sure.

Jordan and I, clad in our road trip best (yours truly in a possibly too-revealing tank top because, why not?), are ready to embrace the open road, the unknown, and the countless stories waiting to unfold. We blast our favorite tunes, singing off-key and laughing at our own terrible voices. The vibes? Immaculate.

But life loves to throw curveballs, doesn’t it? Just as we exit the city limits, guess who texts? No, not Duke this time, but Ethan from that blind date disaster last month. “Miss me?” he writes. Hard pass, Ethan, hard pass. I gently, but firmly, tuck away the phone, not letting the unwanted text buzz kill our departure joy.

Jordan’s already plotting our first food stop, and I’m all in for greasy goodness and endless laughter. This trip’s about the journey, the friendship, the detours, and the memories we’ll cherish. We’re leaving the city’s hustle and bustle, the deadlines, and the unwelcome texts in the rearview mirror.
